Folklore and fairy tales have been intertwined throughout their history, with early fairy tales deriving from the oral tradition before moving into the world of printed literature, and literary stories shifting back into the spoken realm. These tales are infused with mystical and mythical traits, while their traditional elements gave rise to new and otherworldly creations. Folklore, Fairy Tales, and Other Worlds includes five centuries of printed books and ephemera from the Book Club of California’s Albert Sperisen Library. The exhibition spans three thousand years of literature as it explores the ongoing human fascination with the mythical and the marvelous.
On view at the Book Club of California from November 17, 2025 through February 23, 2026
